A few months back, I shared my experience drafting up digital business cards for the first time. Since then, I've been toying around with other digital options, such as QR codes for my LinkedIn and Twitter profiles. Somehow all of that led me to a fun new option that I hadn't heard of before - Cardcast.
Cardcast is a free and easy digital business card creator. The difference is that you can broadcast your card, so anyone nearby can receive and save it. Which means you receive others' cards as well.
Obviously, this would not be a solution for those who don't want to broadcast their information to anyone; it seems to be for more die-hard networkers. What I love is the ease of using the app and that it takes digital business cards to the next level. In addition, you can create multiple cards, if you like.
It takes about a minute to create a card. The sections are all optional (minus adding your name), so you can fill out whatever you like. Here's an example:
Once you are finished filling out whatever fields you like, you can preview your card. Here's an example of my completed card:
I especially appreciate that you can check out your card(s) to see if you're currently in broadcast mode or not. Here's an example of my card in broadcast mode:
I have yet to find out how popular this tool is (I haven't received anyone else's broadcasted cards yet, but then again, I am still a new user). However, because it was quick to create one, it's free, and always fun to try out new technologies, I recommend giving this app to try.
